Lease vs Hire Purchase: Which Suits You?
Hygieia offers two finance structures through our panel of FCA-regulated UK funding partners. Each spreads the cost over 2 to 5 years. The difference is what happens at the end.
Finance Lease
Best when you refresh tech every 3-5 years
Pay a fixed monthly rental over 2, 3 or 5 years. The asset stays on the lessor’s balance sheet during the term. At term end, extend, return, upgrade, or purchase outright at fair market value.
Hire Purchase
Best when outright ownership is your goal
Pay a fixed monthly amount over 2 to 5 years until you own the machine outright. The asset sits on your balance sheet from day one. Title transfers to your business automatically with the final payment.

Cleaning Equipment Leasing FAQs
Common questions about leasing cleaning equipment through Hygieia and our FCA-regulated UK funding partners.
Can’t find your answer? Use the enquiry form below or call our team on 01757 617301.
A:
The minimum equipment value for leasing through our panel is £1,000 ex-VAT. Smaller-value items are available on outright purchase or short-term hire instead. At the £1,000 minimum, indicative monthly rentals start from £24 a month on a 5-year finance lease. Use the calculator below to model your exact figures.
A:
No deposit is required on standard cleaning equipment leases arranged through our FCA-regulated UK funding partners. You preserve working capital for stock, wages, and bid bonds. Your first payment is the first monthly rental, due once the equipment is delivered and the lease activates. Subject to status; underwriting may request a deposit in rare cases.
A:
Standard lease terms are 2, 3, or 5 years (24, 36, or 60 monthly rentals). The 5-year term gives the lowest monthly outlay. The 2-year term delivers the fastest payback and lowest total cost. Custom terms outside this range are sometimes possible — discuss with our team if your cash flow needs a different structure.
A:
An initial soft credit check at quotation stage does not affect your credit score. A full search runs only once you proceed to formal application and accept the indicative terms. Full searches leave a footprint visible to other lenders for 12 months but rarely move the score materially for established businesses. Sole traders see a slightly larger movement than limited companies.
A:
Yes. Sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and start-ups are all eligible. The funding panel includes lenders that specialise in new businesses under 12 months trading. Approval rates sit at 95% across all applicants. For newer businesses, lenders sometimes offer a shorter term or request a personal guarantee in place of a longer trading history.
A:
You have four choices at lease end. Extend the lease at a reduced monthly rental. Return the equipment with no further obligation. Upgrade to a newer machine on a fresh lease. Or buy it outright at fair market value. The lender contacts you 60 days before term end. Hire purchase agreements transfer ownership automatically on the final payment.
A:
Yes. Both finance lease and hire purchase agreements allow early settlement. The lender calculates the settlement figure as the remaining rentals minus a rebate of interest charges. Settlement quotes are available on request at any point during the term. There is no penalty for settling early — only the contractual amount owed.
A:
Each monthly rental carries 20% VAT, which VAT-registered businesses recover through their normal return. Lease rentals are 100% deductible against trading profits, reducing your corporation tax bill. At the current 25% main rate, every £100 of rental saves £25 in tax. Companies on the 19% small profits rate save £19 per £100. Marginal relief applies between £50k and £250k of profit.
A:
Equipment finance is arranged through a panel of FCA-regulated UK funding partners. Hygieia introduces your application to the panel; the lender that approves your terms holds the agreement directly with your business. You receive lender details, FCA registration, and full terms in writing before signing. All providers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
